Children in Paradise Bookstore, located at 909 N. Rush St. features the largest selection of way-cool children's books, software, videos, CDs, tapes, cards and beanie babies in Chicago. But with so many wonderful books to choose from, how do you know where to begin? That's where we come in handy... Our highly qualified staff prides itself on introducing parents, teachers (who receive a 10% discount), and children to the exciting world of children's books and learning materials in a place all their own. Feel free to browse our shelves, pull up a chair in our reading corner, and basically make yourselves at home.
Every child, from the infant who is fascinated with black and white board books, and the toddler who can't resist a hilarious pop-up book to the train-obsessed four-year old and the "fairy tales only" six-year old, will find something to tickle their fancy. For seven years now we've been able to place the right book into our customer's hands. Whether you're a seven-year old on the brink of chapter books or a science fiction fanatic, you're bound to enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience. Lose yourself in our science and nature section, find the perfect gift for a new baby, or discover how to make friendship bracelets, paper airplanes, or origami. You can also learn to play chess, do magic tricks, or polish your nails. There are books and activity kits to help kids find out about any of their interests.
Lurking in our shelves are all the best books by J.K. Rowling, Daniel Pinkwater, Mother Goose, Dr. Seuss, Marc Brown, Rosemary Wells, Roald Dahl - the list is endless, but you get the point. Choose from a treasured classic (Pippi Longstocking, Madeline, Winnie the Pooh, and Curious George) or a new favorite (Harry Potter, Stella Luna, Miss Spider, and Captain Underpants). Other stores may carry these childrens books, but we know what's in them.
Children in Paradise Bookstore is open for business seven days a week. Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Convenient parking is available at several lots in the area and Children in Paradise will validate parking for the 900 N. Michigan parking lot right next door to the store.
Story Hours are every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. and Special Events take place Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
